The sale of 88 Blue Texels at Harrison and Hetherington’s September Pedigree Sheep Fair saw a competitive show followed by steady trade for good quality examples of the breed.
Topping the trade was a gimmer from R Hamilton and I Lammie’s Longhouse flock. The sale leader, Longhouse Jazzy Girl is by Cairnrock He’s A Belter and out of Caryl’s Blues Ffion. It sold to S Wood, Westhill, for 1200gns.
Next best in the female section was a gimmer from D and J Alexander, at 1000gns. Their Millside ewe is by a Beili Blues ram and out of a homebred ewe. It was knocked down to D Hughes, Ceridigion.
Male section
At the same money, and topping the shearling rams, was Derg Jeepers Creepers from M Wattie. The ram was purchased as a lamb by Mr Wattie for his Tonley flock. Sired by Beili Blues Hulk and out of a Derg ewe, it sold again to J T and S A Cannon, Newton Stewart.
Also selling for 1000gns was the top priced ram lamb of the day, from the same home. M Wattie’s February-born Tonley Kingslinks is by Derg Jackal and out of Stephick Fantastic, and sold to A and D Proctor, Morpeth.
