Hardy Blues take the spoils at Welshpool

Hardy Blues Jane from M P Harding, Montgomery, Powys, was firstly crowned champion by judge, Issy Hartley, before then going on to top the Blue Texel Welshpool sale at 1150gns. By Hardy Blues Golden Boy and out of Hardy Blues Gorgeous Girl, she was snapped up by P Miles, Monmouthshire.

Another shearling from M P Harding realised 1000gns for Hardy Blues J. Lo. She is by Hardly Blues Golden Boy and out of Hardly Blues Freda. The successful purchaser for this one was G O Williams, Derwen, Corwen. 

Also, at 1000gns was Garnfach Jessie from H Lewis, Llanon, Ceredigion. She is by Trisant Godfather and by Caryl’s Blues Gin being sold in-lamb to Tubsies Jack The Lad. This was the pick of G Williams, Sennybridge, Powys. 

G A and H M Francis then had a call of 800gns for Pistyll June. By Ettrick Firefly and out of a homebred dam being sold in lamb to the import ram Peter. Taking this one home was C B Bentley, Sandicroft, Flintshire.

Next best at 750gns was Betws Blues Jewel from S James, Llandrindod Wells, Powys. She is sired by Littlebrook Geronimo and out of Betws Blues Ebony and was sold in-lamb to Pistyll King Kong. She was the pick of previous buyer G O Williams. 

Ewe lambs topped at 680gns for the first prize ewe lamb and reserve champion Starlight Kesha from K J Jones, Oswestry, Shropshire. She is by Drumard Ed and out of Saltire Blue Hey You and was the choice of E Powell, Llandrindod Wells, Powys.

Averages: two in-lamb aged ewes £614.25; 11 in-lamb shearling ewes £777.95; five ewe lambs £459.90 (Welshpool Livestock Sales).
