SALE REPORT- SEASONS GREETINGS WORCESTER IN-LAMB SALE

SALE DATE – 3RD DECEMBER 2022

 

Taking the top price at Worcester’s Society In-lamb sale on Saturday 3rd December was the 1st prize shearling ewe and Overall Champion from M & A Jones, Glan-Y-Mor Flock, Gwynedd. Glan-Y-Mor Flora, sired by Sams Dynamite and out of Glan-Y-Mor Big Chop, a daughter of Turbo Blue, sold for 1,000gns. Flora, an eye-catching gimmer, sold running with Turbo Blue 4055 and was purchased by Rhys Cooke for his Nantyderri Flock based near Abergavenny.

Selling for the next leading price at 820gns was a shearling ewe consigned by Mrs Heather Timms of the Brandon Flock based near Coventry. Her home bred ewe, Brandon Fassie, is a daughter of Dulas Comet and goes back to the flocks Cassie female line. She sold running with Turbo Blue 4016 and was knocked down to Ellie & Amy Lanfear for their Amelie Flock near Bristol.

Heading up the ewe class was the first prize winner exhibited by M & A Jones, Glan-Y-Mor Flock, Gwynedd, which sold for 750gns. This entry was Hackney Elanor who is sired by the noted Hackney X-Factor and out of a Whatmore Wasp bred daughter, Whatmore Bamboo. She was successfully sold to Ryan Williams from Little Hereford, Ludlow, Shropshire.

Also selling for 750gns was the shearling ewe entry consigned by Mrs Sara Gibbons from Brecon. Whatmore Fancy That the first entry from Sara’s pen is a daughter of Whatmore Bentley and out of one of the best breeding ewes in the flock, Whatmore Bumble B. She sold in-lamb to Whatmore Chaos and went to an undisclosed buyer.

Another entry from the Brandon Flock of Heather Timms was a shearling ewe, Brandon Fraya which went for 750gns. Also sired by Dulas Comet she is a daughter of the homebred ewe Danya and sold running with Turbo Blue 4016. She now joins the Pilsley Blues Flock for Lisa Smithem of Derbyshire.

The first prize ewe lamb and the Reserve Champion at the presale show also sold for 750gns. Stonycroft Giddy, a daughter of Hackney Young Pretender and out of Stonycroft Cherry, one of the flocks great ewes was offered by Burnett & Lloyd, Leominster, Herefordshire. Giddy was knocked down to George Bowen for his Bramley Blues Flock based near Hereford.

A trio of entries all sold for 700gns. The first at this price was Glan-Y-Mor Empire from M & A Jones, which was sired by Turbo Blue Apeldoorn and sold to Ellie & Amy Lanfear for their Amelie Flock. A few lots later was Whatmore Exquisite, a two shear ewe offered by Sara Gibbons. This was a Whatmore Chaos sired entry which sold to an undisclosed buyer. The third entry to go at 700gns was a shearling ewe, Brandon Fanfan, from Heather Timms which also joins the Pilsley Blues Flock for Lisa Smithem.

Averages – 14 Ewes £513.75; 27 Shearling Ewes £530.83; 14 Ewe Lambs £413.25.
