Leading the in-lamb Blue Texel female sale at Worcester on Saturday 7th December was a shearling ewe from Miss N Legge’s Westwood flock, Leominster Herefordshire, selling for 1100gns.

By Sunnybank Galahad and out of a homebred female by a Blue Stone ram, this one was sold having been served to the winner of the ram lamb class at this year’s Royal Three Counties Show. Taking this one home was T Davies and Co, Llanwrtyd Wells, Powys.
Joining the top price female on the journey back to Powys at 900gns was the pre-sale show champion, Dulas Heather from Messrs Jones and Co Gelli, Llangammarch, Powys. Tapped out by judge Michael Davies, this one is sired by a Rathbone ram and is out of a homebred female by Fforest Dandy.

Two females from the Westwood flock then shared an 850gns price tag, the first being another daughter of the Sunnybank tup, this time out of a homebred female by a Sams ram. This one was scanned for twins to the 7000gns Ettrick Firefly. Taking this one home was D Gower, Bartestree, Herefordshire.

At the same money was another shearling ewe, the same way bred as the top priced female from the Westwood flock. The hammer fell for this one to S Loveless, Bridport, Dorset.
Aged ewes met a top call of 780gns for Tordown Girl Power from Steven Ley and Hannah Payne, Liskeard, Cornwall. By the homebred sire, Tordown Don’t Stop Believing, this 2022-born female is out of a homebred female by a Turbo Blue tup. This one went back to Helston, Cornwall, with J G Bosustow.

Meanwhile, ewe lambs saw a top of 650gns for Statesman Jem from Ben and Tom Stayt, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. By Saltire Blue Gentle Giant and out of a Sunnybank daughter by Drummard First Class, she was the pick of Trevor Prew, Burford, Oxfordshire.
Next was the pre-sale reserve champion, Littlebrook Jingle from Sophie Long, Bishops Frome, Herefordshire. This one is by Severn View GI Joe and out of a homebred female by a Nantyderri ram. Taking her home at 580gns was C Hawkins, Bridport, Dorset.

Averages: 6 aged ewes £507.50; 24 shearling ewes £579.68; 11 ewe lambs £413.79 (McCartneys).
