A shearling ram from the Ty Gwyn flock of G and L Davies, Fishguard, Pembrokeshire, topped the Blue Texel sale at 3800gns, held at Welshpool Market on the 22nd August. Having previously been tapped out as the pre-sale show male champion under judge by Austen Lockyer, he is by Matt’s Hitman and out of Nantyderri Fiesta. He later became the pick of the day of B P J and H M Miflin and Son, Langley Burrell, Wiltshire.

Next best at 1300gns was the first prize ram lamb from M and G Sivill, St Asaph, Denbighshire. Glanrafon Blues Knightly Pedro is by Cleenagh Fandabadosey and out of a homebred Glanrafon ewe. This one was knocked down to G Parry, Llanfigael, Anglesey.

Meanwhile, G A and H M Francis, Abergorlech, Carmarthenshire, realised 1250gns for their Pistyll ram lamb selling to T Davies and Co, Beulah, Powys.
Michael and Emma Davies, Caersws, Powys, took a bid of 1100gns for Severn View Kiss Me Quick. By Derg Flintoff and out of a homebred Dragon Chris daughter, being snapped up by T Hird, Wingates, Northumberland.

The pre-sale championship rosettes were awarded to a Ty Gwyn shearling ewe from G and L Davies. By Stephick High Flyer and out of Ty Gwyn Flawless, this one sold at 1000gns to M C Rowlands, Pontardawe, Swansea.

Also at 1000gns was Brutey’s Blues James Bond from P and D Brute, Talyllyn, Brecon. This shearling ram is by Mullygarrow Grey Goose and out of the homebred Brutey’s Blues Faye and now resides with A C Morgan, Hendy, Swansea.
The reserve champion on the day was a ewe lamb from the Ty Gwyn flock of G and L Davies. Ty Gwyn Katy Perry, again by Stephick High Flyer and out of Ty Gwyn Flawless, making her a full sister to the champion on the day. She was sold for 650gns to D W P Griffiths, English Frankton, Shropshire.
