The Blue Texel Sheep Society’s Northern Supreme Show and Sale reached a high of 10,000gns, with the event this year split between Carlisle and Lockerbie due to bluetongue restrictions.

Leading the trade was Caryl’s Blues King of the Ring, a ram lamb from Caryl Howells, Llanddeusant. The son of Blues Dazzler, and out of Blues Elizabeth, was also crowned pre-sale overall champion. He sold at Lockerbie in a half-share to Messrs Gray, Selkirk, and Westwood Park Farm, Leominster.
Also at Lockerbie, the first prize shearling ram, Saltire Blue Jammy Dodger from Stasa Moyse, Skene, made 8000gns. By Brutey’s Blues Fred and out of Saltire Blue Freestyle, he now heads to Messrs Lee, Kidwelly.

Messrs Lee also took home the third top priced ram lamb, Quarry View King Kong for 6500gns. King Kong is a Drumard Ed son out of Solway View Heart, from Alison Oare, Brynford.

At 7000gns was ram lamb Beili Blues Kick-Ass from D.L. and B.W.H. Jones, Llanllwni. This Ettrick Firefly son, out of a Hackney dam, was purchased by Messrs Davies, Caersws.

Trade at Carlisle was topped at 6000gns by Coniston Karate Kid, a ram lamb from Jennifer Aiken, Wennington. Sired by Trisant Godfather and out of an imported Coniston ewe, he was shared between Messrs Hunter, Insch, and Messrs Rhind and Son, Kinloss.

Females
Shearling ewe Westwood Jazzy II led the bids in the female section at 4200gns, selling in Carlisle. From N. Legge, Hatfield, the Titanium Golden Balls daughter out of a Westwood ewe stood overall female champion before selling to Messrs Innes and Sons, Aberdeen.

Lockerbie saw a 3500gns sale for Glan-Y-Mor J-lo, a shearling ewe from M. and A. Jones, Ynys. By the home-bred Hamburglar and out of an imported Sunnybank ewe, she was bought by Messrs Wood, Westhill.
