The Blue Texel classes at the Royal Bath & West Show once again showcased the quality and depth of the breed, with exhibitors presenting a strong line-up of sheep across all sections. Judge Rhys Francis had the task of sorting some very competitive classes and was full of praise for the standard of stock on display throughout the day.
Sophie Long enjoyed an outstanding show, collecting several top placings before going on to secure both the Male Championship with her Ram Lamb and the Female Championship with her impressive Shearling Ewe, Littlebrook Coco, which was later awarded the Breed Championship, capping off a memorable day for the flock.
Kez’s Blue Texels also enjoyed a successful outing, winning the Ewe Lamb class with KEZ 26/352. The stylish young ewe continued her success in the championship line-up, claiming both Reserve Female Champion and Reserve Breed Champion. The flock also demonstrated excellent consistency by winning the Group of Three competition and securing further placings throughout the day.
Anthony Carter headed a strong Any Age Ram class with JSA 25/1877, a ram that later stood Reserve Male Champion. Michelle & Austen Lockyer took top honours in the Aged Ewe class. He featured prominently throughout the female sections, while Dave Thompson, James Gregory, Helen Miflin and Harry Randell all recorded placings in competitive classes.
Sophie Long won the Pairs competition, while Kez’s Blue Texels took the honours in the Group of Three class, highlighting the depth and uniformity within their exhibit. Sophie enjoyed further success with her Blue Texel lambs, winning the Continental Pairs Championship before going on to take the Interbreed Pairs title at the Royal Bath & West Show.
